Why apply online through M. BURR KEIM AGENCY?

Direct CNA Surety application

Each application link opens the CNA Surety bond application for that bond program. You enter the bond details and pay the premium online when the bond is eligible for instant issue.

Coded to our agency

The links include our app code and agency code, so the application is routed to M. BURR KEIM AGENCY rather than to a generic bond website.

Instant issue where available

Many license, permit, fiduciary, fidelity, and public official bonds issue immediately within the program limits and with acceptable credit.

Agency support when needed

If a bond falls outside instant-issue guidelines, the surety reviews the application. Our bond team is available for existing bonds, claims, and bond types not listed here.

How online bond applications work

  1. Find the bond type. Use the list above or the search bar in your browser to locate the license, permit, fiduciary, fidelity, public official, or Pennsylvania bond you need.
  2. Confirm the amount and obligee. The requiring agency, court, contract, or client sets the bond amount and the legal name of the obligee. Have those details ready before you apply.
  3. Open the CNA Surety application. The link on each bond page includes our app code and agency code so the application is routed to M. BURR KEIM AGENCY.
  4. Complete the application and pay the premium. If the bond is eligible for instant issue, the application shows the premium and lets you finish online. Otherwise, the surety reviews the application and may request additional information.
  5. File the issued bond. Provide the bond to the agency, court, client, or government entity that requires it, and keep a copy for your records.

Bond amount vs. premium

The bond amount

The bond amount is the maximum the surety could pay under the bond. It is set by the requiring agency, court, contract, or client, not by the applicant. A $25,000 bond does not cost $25,000.

The premium

The premium is what you pay the surety for issuing the bond. It is based on the bond amount, the bond type, the obligee, the term, and your credit and financial information. The online application shows the premium before you bind coverage.

Bond questions

A surety bond is a three-party agreement between the surety company, the person or business that must provide the bond (the principal), and the party requiring the bond (the obligee). The surety guarantees that the principal will perform a specific obligation. If the principal fails, the surety may pay a covered claim up to the bond amount, and the principal is generally responsible for reimbursing the surety.

Choose the bond type from the list on this page and open its detail page. Then click the CNA Surety online application link. The link includes the M. BURR KEIM AGENCY app code and agency code, so the application is routed to our agency. Complete the application, pay the premium online if the bond is eligible for instant issue, and file the issued bond with the agency, court, or client that requires it.

The premium is a separate charge from the bond amount. It depends on the bond type, the required bond amount, the obligee, the term, and the applicant’s credit and financial information. Many license, permit, fiduciary, fidelity, and public official bonds are inexpensive relative to the bond amount. The online application shows the premium before you bind coverage.

Instant issue means the surety can approve and issue the bond immediately after you complete the online application and pay the premium, without a separate underwriting review. Instant issue is available for many bonds within specified limits and with acceptable credit. If the bond falls outside those guidelines, the application goes to underwriting review.

The required amount is set by the agency, court, licensing authority, contract, or client that requires the bond. It is not something the applicant chooses. Confirm the exact amount and the legal name of the obligee before applying, and use those details in the online application.

Many applicants can still be approved with less-than-perfect credit, but the premium may be higher or the application may need underwriting review. Instant issue is generally available with acceptable credit within the program limits. Apply online and the surety will show the available options.

No. Most are surety bonds, including license, permit, fiduciary, public official, constable, and tag agent bonds. Fidelity bonds and signing agent coverage are insurance products, not surety bonds. Each detail page identifies the product and the carrier that issues it.

No. A surety bond is a guarantee that a specific obligation will be performed, and the principal is generally responsible for reimbursing the surety for covered claims. Insurance transfers risk to the insurer and generally does not require reimbursement from the insured. Some businesses need both a bond and insurance.

Important note

Bond requirements, forms, amounts, premiums, and filing procedures are set by the requiring agency, court, licensing authority, contract, or carrier and can change. The information on this page is general information, not legal advice. Confirm the current requirement with the requiring party or your attorney before applying. M. BURR KEIM AGENCY is an insurance and surety bond agency; the bond or policy is issued by the carrier named on the document.
