Why is an insurance Producer Bond required?
State insurance departments use producer bonds to protect policyholders and insurers when a producer mishandles premiums or violates the insurance code. The bond can respond to certain covered failures, up to the bond amount.
The bond is required as a condition of licensure and does not replace errors and omissions insurance, a fidelity bond, or the producer’s own premium accounting controls.
